This quick little DIY project made such a big impact on our entryway, that I wanted to share a quick how-to post on it! Our entryway from downstairs is kind of a weird spot in our house, because we switched its location from the interior to the exterior when we built our staircase. To do that, we blasted through an old closet into what is now the kitchen, but that resulted in a half-plaster, half-“needs to be sheetrocked” wall. We’re quickly learning that plaster and sheetrock just never seem to meet up properly, and that fact combined with our terrible mudding skills (seriously, how do people learn to be good at it? Those folks are worth their weight in gold, I swear it!) result in weird-looking walls. This area was no exception, and it was starting to drive us both a little crazy looking at it. It also is such a small space, and just needed a little more interest. Continue reading
It’s reveal time! It’s been a whirlwind, and we’re not even totally finished but I’m so incredibly happy to be able share the results of this One Room Challenge Office/ Lounge Makeover with you! This 6-week challenge turned out to be just that: it was a serious challenge to get it all done in 6 weeks, but I’m so glad that fire was lit under us, because we now have a new favorite space in our home. Continue reading
Agh! How did we get all the way to week 5 already!? We’re in the home stretch, but I feel like there s still so much to do before the reveal next week!
Hey Everyone! I’m a little late getting my week 4 update loaded up, and I just have a few quick updates this week before it’s back to work on this office makeover…. I’m definitely feeling the 2-week countdown crunch!!
It’s week 3 of the One Room Challenge, and we’re chugging right along over here with our office/lounge makeover! The one thing that I’m most excited about is the flooring. Last week, I told you guys we were thinking of going with a DIY wide-plank floor, in a herringbone pattern. You guys. Omg. I didn’t realize I could be so in love with a bunch of pieces of 1×6, but, I’m obsessed. I love them. Continue reading
So, it’s been awhile! We’ve been hard at work renovating our new house, and I just haven’t made the time to sit down and write about it quite yet- but I’ve got lots on the docket! However, I’ve decided to take a hiatus from my hiatus (is that a thing?) to participate in/play along with this fall’s One Room Challenge put on by Calling it Home and HouseBeautiful!
I’ve mentioned DIY vanities in a few of our other projects, and I finally managed to control myself and take some picture throughout the process of our most recent master-bath vanity DIY so that I could share it with you! Continue reading
Today I have a quick little tutorial for one of my favorite low cost curb appeal upgrades. I’ve found that front doors are a perfect canvas for adding some interest to the front of a house. By adding a little pop of color, and a cute house number stencil, the front entrance to our house got way more inviting!
With the Hunter house finished and a little breathing room back in our bank account, it’s finally time to find ourselves a place of our own! You may recall my little tour of our apartment… it was a little tour, for a very little apartment.
While it’s in an amazing location, the lack of space in our unit, and having to share the backyard now that the building is filling up, is starting to wear on us. The pups are starting to show signs of being a little too close to each other all of the time too, so it’s definitely time for us to move on and find ourselves a little more room to spread out! Continue reading
So, now that the jinx is over, and we’re back, I’ve got just a few more posts to round out this most recent project. I’ve already shown you most of the exciting areas of the rehab, but there’s one more area I wanted to highlight: so it’s time to talk about the coolest bedroom in the house! Continue reading
